Four-year-old child has lost her voice following several sexual assaults on her by her 37-year-old father, identified as Ademola.

Her mother explained to Saturday PUNCH how her husband of 14 years had been molesting their daughter.
Blessed with four children; three girls, including a set of twins, and a boy, things became took a dark turn when she caught her husband sexually assaulting their 2nd child.

The unfortunate incident seems to be tearing the family further apart as she has not only moved out of the house; she has vowed never to return, whilst accusing her husband of being diabolical.

She began, “It started in 2013 when I suddenly woke up one night and saw my husband removing the panties of my daughter. It was in the midnight. I wanted to shout but I wanted to see what he was up to. So, I pretended as if I didn’t see him because the room was relatively dark.

“When he pulled down her pant, he looked around and when he felt convinced that everyone was deep asleep, he stood up and moved to where the girl was and dipped his hand in her private part. I screamed.

“To say I was shocked was to say the least. He was shocked too because he didn’t know anyone was watching, so he quickly stood up, pulled up his trousers and started beating me.”
She said she would have left the home that night but she said she had to stay because she was already pregnant for him at the time.
She continued, “He beat me that night such that blood came out of my body. I didn’t even know I was pregnant until that night and the pregnancy was about two months old. I ran away from him for some time and I told my relatives. But I had to go back because of the pregnancy and that was when I had a set of twins for him.”

She said she had thought he had changed and would never do such a despicable act again, but unknown to her, other things had been going on without her knowledge. She said the straw that broke the camel’s back happened on July 17, 2015 when she caught him molesting her daughter again the same way he did before.

With her eyes soaked in tears, she said, “I thought he had stopped until the night of July 17, 2015 around 1am. It was a Friday. Rebecca was sleeping beside me but I saw him stand up, he carried the girl to the other side of the bed. He didn’t know I was awake. I had wanted to shout but I wanted to know what he was up to again. So, he removed his trousers, turned his back at me and crawled to where Rebecca was lying.

“He didn’t know I was looking at him. He pulled down her panties and started inserting his finger in her private part again. I thought I was dreaming. I screamed and continued shouting. He was shocked and couldn’t talk. He was just looking. Then, he went back to sleep.
“The following morning, I challenged him why he was doing that to his own child. I know he is diabolical, so I told him if his plan was to use my daughter for anything evil, he would not prosper. That was what got him angry and he started beating me. He said he would kill me. Then, my other children started crying and shouting, and he didn’t stop until one of our neighbours intervened.
“The following day, I went to the church to report to the shepherd of the church he was attending, Celestial Church of Christ, somewhere around Ikotun in Alimosho Local Government. The shepherd was shocked too but he pleaded with me to exercise patience. Because of the fear of what he could do to us, we left the house and moved to the church and we kept sleeping there.”
Folake explained that her estranged husband, who is a motor mechanic in Ikotun area, came to the church, beat her and forcefully took away their 17-month-old twins, whom she was still breastfeeding, noting that the two girls had been in his custody since then.

Her seven-year-old son, identified simply as Seun, told Punch correspondent that he had seen his father on top of his sister on several occasions , stating that he had caught him twice in the act of putting his hand “under” his sister. He explained that his father used to rub his hands all over Rebecca’s body but he barely knew what he was up to.

Disturbed by the incident, Folake said she reported the assault at the Igando Police Station and to the Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, who had helped to monitor the case with the police. Folake added that some of the policemen at the station laughed at her when they heard about the case.

Ogwu told Saturday PUNCH that it would be in the interest of all if justice was done on the matter, saying she would follow the matter to its conclusion.
She added, “We have involved the National Human Rights Commission, Office of the Public Defender and the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in the case so as to ensure justice. It is increasingly becoming important for parents to pay due attention to their children to guard them against assault.”

Even though a test conducted on the girl at the Mirabel Sexual Assault Referral Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, confirmed that the girl had been assaulted and her hymen broken, Folake noted that to her dismay, Ademola has been released on bail by the police, and that the police in Igando have been reluctant in taking the case to court.
Folake said that her worry was that the man who had done both spiritual and psychological damage to her little daughter should was about to go scot free.
“This girl’s private part has almost become rotten and as young as she is, her breast is already coming out, and she limps occasionally. I can never entrust my children into his hands and that is why I’m worried about the twins that are with him. They are also girls. I don’t want him to molest them too.“He had afflicted us with charm but we have been set free. The two children in school have been very retarded, coupled with the fact that Rebecca has not been talking until she did twice just two months ago. And since then, she has stopped again. She just doesn’t talk and she urinates frequently. She should be in Nursery One now but she seems not to be coping. Even her teachers are complaining she had become a recluse and she keeps urinating all the time.”
When Ademola was contacted over the allegations levelled against him by his wife and son, he said:
“She is lying against me. I didn’t do any of those things they were saying. She has been looking for ways to move out of the house because she has seen someone else she wants to marry and that was why she left the house.”

The Divisional Police Officer, Igando Police Station, Mr. Segun Fagbohun, said that he has transferred Ademola and the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Yaba for further investigations.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-35489233314054547532015-10-03T00:43:00.002-07:002015-10-03T00:43:12.829-07:00£25m worth of drugs found in freezer after tyre fitting firm police raid

Police have arrested five people after the discovery of drugs with an estimated street value of about £25 million - most of it at a flat.
The drugs, believed to be mephadrone and amphetamine, were found within a ground floor flat in Liverpool yesterday.
Detectives from ‘Titan’, the north-west’s regional organised crime unit, had gone to the flat after a discovery of drugs earlier in the day at a tyre fitting centre in Huyton.

Merseyside Police patrols had followed a Ford Fiesta car and its occupant left the vehicle and went into a tyre fitting yard on an industrial unit.
Officers detained three men inside and recovered a quantity of suspected drugs, reports the Liverpool Echo .

Another man was arrested close by and a fifth man was later arrested in the Kirkdale area. Further suspected drugs were found in the Ford Fiesta.
Some of the suspected drugs were also hidden within a tyre that was in the process of being refitted to a wheel rim.

Officers have seized from those premises drugs , believed to be 8kg (24,000 tablets) of ecstasy, 4kg of amphetamines and an estimated 1kg of cocaine.
Later enquiries led Titan detectives to the flat in Garston where an estimated 150kg of what is believed to be amphetamines and mephadrone were found.
All five people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs and are being held at police stations across the North-west. The drugs have been seized by the police for furtherAC examinations.

The five people arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs are A 44-year-old man from Vauxhall, a 36-year-old man from Huyton , a 30-year-old man from Huyton, a 28-year-old man from Huyton and a 22-year-old man from Huyton.ACAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-77460714481506729982015-10-03T00:29:00.001-07:002015-10-03T00:29:30.733-07:00APC will soon crumble –Adesiyan

A former Minister for Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan, has predicted that the ruling All Progressive Congress will crumble because it was formed by disgruntled elements of another parties.

“The APC is an amalgamation of people who are disgruntled here and there. They came together to hijack power, Adesiyan said on Friday in a chat with journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain said the last presidential election won by the APC was not free and fair.

He said, “What was free and fair in the election in which a state was given about 1.9 million votes and another one was given about 1.4 million votes? Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, is the biggest town in West Africa and cannot provide such figure.

“Anything that is built on falsehood will crumble and that is what we have seen about this APC thing.

“Muhammadu Buhari wanted to become the President of Nigeria, he needed the amalgamation of some people and he has got it. Bukola Saraki wanted to be the President of the Senate and he has got it. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wanted to be the leader of the APC, he also got. So, all of them wanted to get their own and they have got it. And that is why they are falling apart.”

The former minister, however, said the PDP was more organised than the ruling APC.

He said, “The PDP is a party where people can easily express their opinions. There is no cabal and there is no street-fight leadership; the party allows politicians who genuinely wish to express their desire to operate unlike the APC.

“Those who left the PDP have seen the reason why they should not have left in the first instance and the only opportunity for them now is to come back to their original party where they can express their feelings without any ill-feelings and repercussions.”

He expressed hope the PDP chieftains who left for the APC would return to the party.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-50945007580594884442015-10-03T00:25:00.000-07:002015-10-03T00:25:00.870-07:00IT critical to Nigeria’s economic survival – Experts

The Regional Sales Manager, Blue Coat Technology, Mr. Justin Lee, has described the Nigerian Information Technology market as one of the biggest in the world, saying that the sector is an important element in the development of the nation’s economy.

Lee, who spoke at the launch of a comprehensive lifecycle protection for all forms of advanced threats currently affecting organisations around the world in Lagos recently, said that the latest technology would finally address every risk posed by malwares and hackers.

According to Lee, the event which was organised in conjunction with Tarsus Technology Group, a value added distributor of the company’s products in Nigeria and other West African markets, is an avenue to introduce the latest solution to the region and also assure new and existing clients of their resolve to surpass expectations.

He said, “We are eager to enter into the West African market through Nigeria because we believe that Nigeria is a large market from where we can penetrate other West African markets. The purpose of this technology is to help organisations address the issue of security threats that have become a global issue and now threatens the growth of most economies.

“Blue Coat advanced threat protection solution integrates technologies and delivers a comprehensive, integrated and modern approach to advanced persistent threats, advanced targeted attacks, advanced malware, unknown malware and zero-day threats through its Advanced Threat Protection Lifecycle Defense.

“This defense is the first to integrate a business process view that aligns with how security teams operationalise new intelligence and technologies to fortify their infrastructure against future attacks. The Blue Coat Advanced Threat Protection Lifecycle Defense operates in three stages by detecting and protecting ongoing security operations; analysing and mitigating for incident containment; and investigates and remediates for incident resolution.”

The Regional Manager, English West Africa, Tarsus Technology Group, Mr. Femi Ibine, stated that as a leading partner with Blue Coat, they would continue to provide the best atmosphere and support services for clients wherever they might be.

“Apart from solution distribution, we also provide technical skills for our resellers and customers who are end users of the solution, and we provide project financing for customers and organisations that may need the solution but do not have the financial strength to deploy it. This is why we are value added distributor,” he said.

According to recent findings, over 100,000 new malware samples alone were being discovered every day, while unknown malware and zero-day threats continue to evade even the best traditional security defenses, thus threatening many businesses around the world. The latest technology, according to its makers, is designed to address all of these by integrating into existing security infrastructures used by organisations.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-80242652725429395282015-10-03T00:20:00.002-07:002015-10-03T00:20:21.410-07:00Military threatens to demolish facilities hosting Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army on Friday threatened to demolish any facility hosting members of the Boko Haram terror group.

The threat was issued to check against recent suicide attacks in part of troubled Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Addressing a press conference in Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander of Operations, Lafiya Dole, a military operations established to put an end to Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, Maj.-Gen. Yusha’u Abubakar, said any facility used to perpetuate terrorism would be demolished forthright with.

He warned that the military could not be deterred in the war against insurgency and since it had a timeline for the operation against the terrorist, no allowance would be given for failure or drawbacks.

“Any facilities that is used to make bombs or used to dress suicide bombers would be leveled,” he said.

The Army boss, who confirmed that 14 persons were killed and 39 others injured in Thursday’s attack on Sajeri area of Ajilari Cross in Maiduguri, asked every member of the society to be security conscious and report any suspicious or movement to security agencies.

He said the military would hold meetings with all stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women and students to sensitise them on need to support the war against terrorism.

He said terrorists should be isolated in order to win the war, insisting that the public would pay a big role in this.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Opadokun, has called on residents of the troubled Maiduguri to avoid large gathering which could be a major attraction to suicide bombers.

The CP, in a text message to journalists, said that residents should report any strange face or faces in their neighborhood to security agencies.

On the attack on Sajeri, Opadokun said, “There was IED explosion on October 1, 2015 at about 7.45pm in Sajeri area in Bulumkutu, Maiduguri, when four suspected suicide bombers detonated IEDs strapped on their bodies.”

He added that the explosion occurred at four different locations on the same axis and that the death toll had risen to 14 persons, including the suicide bombers.

Opadokun added that the injured were taken to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Umaru Shehu Hospital in the town.

He, however, advised law abiding citizens to report promptly to police or nearest security agency any suspicious person or movement.

Governor Kashim Shettima condemned the incessant bombings of innocent people and other soft targets of mosques, motor parks and markets in the state.

While sympathising with the family members of victims, he said, “As this Boko Haram madness was about to end, we will do everything to protect our people’s lives and property.

“I am urging all of you to be always security conscious by promptly reporting any suspicious movement to the military and all other security agencies, before this madness destroys all of us here in this state.”Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-19053484851103153022015-10-03T00:18:00.000-07:002015-10-03T00:18:04.909-07:00Jail corrupt public officials, Kukah tells Buhari

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to send public officials found guilty of embezzlement to prison.

He also said the President should set minimum standard of human behaviour for ministers that would be named in his cabinet.

Kukah, who spoke at “The Platform” – a programme organised by the Covenant Christian Centre, Lagos on Thursday on the topic “Nigeria: Euphoria, Hysteria and Dementia, still a Long Walk to Freedom,” said very little had changed in 55 years of Nigeria’s independence from the British colonial masters.

He said, “On the fight against corruption, whether it involves trials or people going to prison, Buhari has an opportunity now. He must set minimum standard of moral behaviour for his ministers.

“Every past government in Nigeria promised to fight corruption, but left us worse than where they met us. Every government must have an opposition of itself, not of politics and political pasts. We need to set minimum standards of human behaviour that are acceptable to us as individuals for our leaders.

“The idea that once you become a governor or minister, several monarchs will start giving you traditional titles should stop. That is where corruption starts. The idea that because you are a minister, you have to turn your children’s wedding to state functions should stop.

“Every minister’s children should get their education in Nigeria, except if they already have the money and their children are already there. There should be measures to fight corruption if we are really serious about it.”

Meanwhile, a professor of economics, Pat Utomi, who was also at the event, said one of the ways the government could create economic prosperity for Nigerians is to decentralise the Central Bank of Nigeria into regional central banks.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-35947461634020534352015-10-03T00:16:00.001-07:002015-10-03T00:16:18.329-07:00FG gets report on proposed national airline

The Federal Government on Friday received the report on the establishment of a national carrier from the 13-member committee it set up in August to produce the document.

The Federal Government said the report contained recommendations that would guide it as it works towards establishing a national airline for the country, adding that it was put together after the committee consulted with local and international partners.

The committee for the establishment of a national carrier was inaugurated in Abuja on August 25 at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Aviation.

The country’s national carrier, Nigeria Airways, was liquidated in May 2003 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Previous administrations had made several attempts to resuscitate the airline, but were unsuccessful.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Binta Bello, had during the inauguration of the 13-member committee in August expressed the hope that there would be a positive outcome and stated that the committee had four weeks to complete its assignment.

Earlier in the month of August, President Muhammadu Buhari, directed the permanent secretary to commence an action on the establishment of a befitting national carrier for Nigeria. In an interview with journalists after receiving the report, Bello said, “The committee was inaugurated based on the directive of the President and they are to advise the government appropriately on how to go about the establishment of a national carrier.”

Asked if the Federal Government would certainly inaugurate a national carrier any time soon, she replied, “Well, the report has just been submitted to me and I have not even opened it. Until I open the report and see the recommendations, I may not be able to say this is exactly what we are going to come up with.”

She stated that the committee kept to the stipulated time given to it by the Federal Government, adding that they did a diligent job.

“We gave them one month and they were ready with the report within that period. They met the target given them and were diligent in delivering the task. So we look forward to lifting Nigerians again in the air,” she said.

The chairman of the committee, Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed, said the team consulted widely before coming up with the report.

He said, “The creation of the committee on the establishment of a national carrier has generated a lot of excitement and comments both in the print and electronic media as well as social media networks since its inauguration.

“It was therefore not surprising that we received a lot of memoranda from interested stakeholders within and outside the country. We consulted with a total of 74 stakeholders, ranging from airline operators to aviation agencies, service providers, financial consultants, institutional investors, aircraft and parts suppliers and former staff of Nigeria Airways Limited.

“Others include Maintenance Repair Organisation Developers, aerodrome designers/builders and aviation staff unions. The reports and recommendations we are submitting today are based on those consultations and terms of reference given to us.”

Mohammed said the committee had made far- reaching recommendations, noting that if accepted and implemented by the Federal Government, it would have positive impact on the aviation industry in Nigeria.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-31996051234671322452015-10-03T00:14:00.001-07:002015-10-03T00:14:28.470-07:00Bayelsa PDP, APC talk tough over gov poll

The Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has said that the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Timipre Sylva, is not electable.

Sylva during the week emerged as the APC’s candidate for the December 5, 2015 governorship poll.

The PDP Secretary in the state, Keku Godspower, said in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa that it was an insult to the people of Bayelsa State that Sylva was the best the APC picked as its candidate.

Keku said the emergence of Sylva as the APC’s candidate had shown that the party was not prepared for serious outing as the election was concerned.

According to him, since Sylva’s emergence, palpable fear and tension among Bayelsa residents have increased.

Keku also alleged that Sylva had a record of violence as a former governor, adding that re-electing him would not be different.

He said since Sylva won the APC’s primary, the state had witnessed the influx of secret cult members and militants.

Keku added that the development could lead to relapse of violence in Bayelsa and its neighbouring states.

But Sylva boasted that his party would soon make the PDP and its candidate, Mr. Seriake Dickson, history in Bayelsa State.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Doifie Buokoribo, Sylva said the PDP was jittery because it knew that it would lose the election.

The statement read, “We know that the game plan of the PDP was to prevent the emergence of a strong and popular APC governorship candidate so that it can easily repeat its trademark of aborting democratic competition and stealing victory without a contest.

“With that deception, the PDP stole the mandate of the people in 2011, when both Chief Timipre Sylva and Mr. Ndutimi Alaibe were dubiously excluded just to give Seriake Dickson victory without a real electoral contest.”Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-40505993036016061792015-10-03T00:12:00.003-07:002015-10-03T00:12:50.237-07:00Boko Haram kills over 34, injure 39 in Maiduguri

Boko Haram insurgents have killed over 34 people in Sajeri and Gwoza areas in Maiduguri, Borno State between Thursday and Friday.

Four female suicide bombers killed 13 people and injured 39 others in Sajeri while gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members attacked Gwoza on Friday morning killing over 20 persons.

Confirming the development on Friday, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, said that multiple explosions rocked the Sajeri area on Thursday, killing at least 13 persons and injuring 39 others.

Usman also confirmed that the injured victims of the attacks, which were carried out by four female suicide bombers, had been taken to the hospital.

He said, “There were bomb explosions at Sajeri, Maiduguri on Thursday. Troops, security, and emergency management were mobilised to the location. Although details are sketchy, four Boko Haram terrorists’ suicide bombers detonated their vests simultaneously.

“Three of them in the same area and the fourth detonated in front of a mosque. It has been confirmed that 14 people lost their lives and the 39 wounded people have been evacuated to the hospital.”

He, however, assured residents in the area that everything was being done to ensure their safety.

“We appeal to the people and residents in the affected area to remain calm. Everything is being done to secure lives and property,” he said.

Over 20 people were also said to have been killed when gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents attacked Gwoza in Maiduguri, on Friday.

The Executive Director, Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, who quoted military sources in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, said that the insurgents overran the town as early as 7.30am killing many people.

Gwoza was the first town to be declared Muslim caliphate by the insurgents on August 14, 2014, but it was later reclaimed by the military this year.

Lipdo expressed worry that the insurgents were still allowed to prowl about even when they had been chased out from some places.

He called on the military to maintain effective presence in places where the insurgents had been chased away from.

The attack on Gwoza came less than 24 hours after the insurgents attacked Kinchinga village in Madagali Local Government area of Adamawa State slitting the throats of five people.

Boko Haram insurgents have increasingly used suicide bombers to target civilians. On September 20, 2015, at least 117 people were killed in similar attacks in the city of Maiduguri.

The Boko Haram insurgency has also claimed more than 1,260 lives in the country since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office on May 29, 2015.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-65003432472516799852015-10-03T00:11:00.001-07:002015-10-03T00:11:11.931-07:00Stampede: Nigerian victims not insured

Fresh facts have shown that the 64 Nigerians confirmed dead in the Mina stampede in Saudi Arabia, plus the 71 injured and the 244 missing pilgrims were not insured.

Saturday PUNCH’s investigation revealed that majority of the 76,000 Nigerians, who participated in this year’s Hajj in Mecca, did not have travel health insurance before jetting out to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage.

This, it was learnt, was due to the disposition of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria that there is no insurance in Islam and life comes from God and it goes to God whenever He takes it.

Among the deceased were notable Nigerians, including the brother of a former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Justice Abdulkadir Jega; another Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, Justice Musa Hassan Alkali; the Emir of Zing and Ameerul-Hajj of Taraba State to 2015’s Hajj exercise, Abbas Ibrahim, with two of his wives.

Others were a veteran female journalist from the North, Bilkisu Yusuf, and an Arabic and Islamic Studies scholar, Prof. Tijjani El-Miskin. Alhaji Abbas Ibrahim Sambo, Bello Gidan Hamma and Alhaji Shehu Kontagora also died in the incident.

According to NAHCON, 42 of the dead Nigerians were from states pilgrims’ welfare boards, including two NAHCON officials, while others were among those on the pilgrimage by private tour operators.

The commission also listed 15 states – Bauchi, Borno, Zamfara, Cross River, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Sokoto, Taraba and Yobe – as those that lost pilgrims to the stampede.

The spokesperson for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Mr. Uba Mana, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, confirmed that the country’s 76,000 pilgrims to 2015 Hajj were not insured because “in Islam, insuring a life is not recognised.”

This, he said, was the reason NAHCON could not make it mandatory for pilgrims to buy travel insurance before going for Hajj; adding that the same principles are in force in the state pilgrims’ boards.

On whether he thinks the Federal Government should pay compensation to the families of the victims, Mana said, “Is it the responsibility of the Federal Government to pay compensation? The Federal Government did not cause the accident which happened in a foreign land. The best the Federal Government can do is to seek compensation from the foreign government.

“It is not the Nigerian government that caused the accident. Of course (there may be), if a pilgrim is travelling and the aircraft is insured, but you don’t insure it because he is going to Mecca, but because insuring a passenger’s life is part of the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Every aircraft is responsible for the soul it carries. As a Muslim, if you want to go for Hajj, it is not done in Islam that a pilgrim’s life should be insured.”

He recalled that the Saudi Arabian government had decided to constitute a committee that would probe the accident.

He, however, said the position of NAHCON and the Federal Government is that while they support the probe, individual countries that lost their pilgrims should be co-opted into the committee, even at international level, with a view to preventing a recurrence.

The Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and ex-Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said insurance as it is being practised in the country is not acceptable in Islam because it is exploitative.

To this end, he submitted that travel insurance wouldn’t have prevented the death of Nigerian pilgrims who died in the Hajj stampede.

He said, “Will travel insurance prevent their death? Travel insurance is something to assure them that in case they die, their offspring or those who are left behind will have some benefits. From Islamic point of view, there are systems of cooperative insurance that is allowed in Islam called Takaful. There are some insurance companies in Nigeria that are operating windows of Takaful, that is allowed.

“Insurance as we practice it in conventional form is even not acceptable in Islam because it is exploitative. They collect money from you, there is no accident, then you lose your money and you pay another premium next year. But Islam has a method that can be used but that is not relevant to this issue because we are not talking about the dependents suffering or not suffering.

“If somebody has insurance and he dies, the insurance will be activated and the beneficiaries will enjoy the outcome, but to ask that insurance should be imposed on our pilgrims, we will be asking too much and of course, we will be creating some other matters, including theological issues.”

When contacted, the chairman, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, said there would be no compensation for the two victims from the state. The two victims were Mukaila Ogundiran and Saburi Rufai.

“There is no compensation for the Hajj victims from the state,” he said.

Similarly, the Ondo State Government declared that the pilgrims from the state who died during the stampede in Mecca would not be compensated.

It was gathered that no fewer than three pilgrims from the state lost their lives at the Mecca stampede during the 2015 Hajj pilgrimage

The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, in a telephone interview with Saturday PUNCH, said the deceased pilgrims should be compensated by the Saudi Arabian authorities and not the state government.

He said “How can the government pay compensation to the persons who sponsored themselves to Hajj? The Ondo State Government has no such plan. It is the Saudi Arabian government that is supposed to do that because the incident was said to have been caused by the poor management of the crowd by the authorities concerned.

“The pilgrims who died in the stampede did not represent the government; they went on their own, so how can we pay compensation to them?”

While Nigerian pilgrims to the 2015 Hajj were not insured, findings show that Iranian pilgrims as well as administrative and support workers dispatched to Saudi Arabia had insurance coverage.

The contract between the Iranian Insurance Company and the Organisation of Hajj includes term insurance, (death and permanent partial or total physical deficiency due to accident), supplementary health insurance and equity of the insured.

Therefore, should any of the insured be hospitalised in Saudi Arabia or Iran due to any illness or accident or pass away consequently; the company would pay all the costs and indemnities regardless of the duration of the coverage.

Some insurance companies in Egypt offer products for pilgrims in case of an accident, which cover up to EGP20, 000 (US$2,552) for death. Insurance companies offer additional coverage for emergencies and repatriation of mortal remains to the homeland and funeral expenses.

Also, pilgrims from Bangladash who undertook the Hajj or umrah take up different insurance schemes designed to cover accident risk.

In addition, Hajj pilgrims from India are insured by the Hajj committee of India under the comprehensive insurance policy that will cover losses due to theft, hospitalisation, illness, and injury or death due to terrorism, among others.

The comprehensive policy covers five types of emergencies for which the insurance company is liable to pay monetary compensation. Every pilgrim is allotted 2,100 Saudi riyals at 21 embarkation points across India. If the pilgrim loses 2,100 riyals during the first two days, he is liable to get the total reimbursement. The reimbursement diminishes as the days pass by during the stay.

The policy also covers loss of baggage, but not during transit. A person is eligible to get around 5,100 riyals for any loss of baggage for a maximum of 100 persons.

Seven hundred and sixty-nine persons were killed, while 934 others were injured in the stampede but other sources, including the government of Iran, had said that they believed the death toll was more than 1,100.

The incident had occurred at the intersection of streets 204 and 223 leading up to Jamaraat Bridge and has been described as the deadliest accident to occur in the Hajj since the 1990 disaster that killed 1,426 people.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-70702065676338307042015-10-03T00:09:00.001-07:002015-10-03T00:09:40.840-07:00Attack on court becoming national tradition – CACOL

A group seeking a corrupt-free society, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, has decried the recent attack on the Ogun State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta.

CACOL said it was disturbing that needless attack on litigants by overzealous and lawless politicians was gradually becoming a tradition in Nigeria.

Describing the attack on the Ogun State election petitions tribunal as a national embarrassment that tends to diminish the Nigerians as a people; CACOL urged the security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.

In a statement on Friday, CACOL Executive Chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said it was saddening that no suspect had been arrested in connection with the attack three days after it occurred.

Adeniran said, “Attack is a national embarrassment that tends to diminish our value and dignity as a people. Such act of barbarism is only capable of debasing our sensibility as humans.

“By the way, what sort of society are we trying to build or what legacy shall we be bequeathing to upcoming generations, when the sanctity of our hallowed chambers of justice is flagrantly desecrated at will by those who have assumed a status of out-laws in our midst?

“Is ours turning into an animal kingdom where laws do not exist at all?

Pieces of human flesh were seen on Saturday morning littering the roadside in a suburb of Abuja, Nyanya, where an explosive went off late on Friday.

The explosive was said to have been detonated at the Jikwoyi Park, Nyanya, on the popular Abuja-Keffi Expressway, claiming yet-to-be ascertained number of lives.

The late Friday incident was the third to be recorded in that vicinity.

Two previous incidents with heavy casualties were witnessed there last year.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene as early as 6.30am on Saturday, reported that the scene of the blast had been cordoned off by security operatives.

A combined team of soldiers, policemen, officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps were seen controlling the crowd of onlookers which kept increasing every minute.

Some policemen wearing black T-shirts marked “EOD” were seen picking pieces of human flesh that still littered the road side.

The pieces of flesh were being packed inside cartons by the security operatives as wailing residents looked on.

Buses and cars that had their windscreens shattered as a result of the impact of the blasts were still at the scene.

An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Aminu, told our correspondent that rescue workers recovered many corpses from the scene of the blast late Friday.

“What you see them packing now are pieces of flesh because many of the victims were torn into pieces. Corpses with several missing parts were taken away last night,” he said.

The incident has caused a serious traffic gridlock on the expressway inwards Abuja as many motorists made attempt to get a glimpse of the scene.

Security operatives were still having difficulties in controlling the surging crowd at the time of filing this report at 7.15am.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-14189789074948537732015-10-02T08:19:00.001-07:002015-10-02T08:19:13.924-07:00Billionaire man supports Nigerian Teen Entrepreneurs to surmount the world

You all know Cookie Lyon played by Taraji P. Henson has a bad mouth on his TV show, Empire. The show's writers kinda use the character to diss Hollywood. On the last episode of Empire, Cookie made a slick comment about Jennifer Lopez's talent by telling son Hakeem, who's putting together an all girl group,
“Ain’t nothing wrong with a couple of JLos...as long as they can really sing.” ouch!
The show's creator Lee Daniels apologized to JLo for Cookie's mouth. What he tweeted after the cut..
2 Minutes and it’s over? Lasting longer in bed is only a matter of practice & technique.
We’ve all been working under a completely false assumption. The idea that women are less interested in amazing, mind-blowing sex than men is a relic of Puritan and Victorian social standards, but nonetheless persists. Well, it’s just not true; society lied to us. Throw away all those rumors and whispered ideas you’ve heard about women not wanting sexual pleasure. They’re nonsense.

Women not only love sex as much, if not more, than men – a powerful, masculine lover is probably what every women desires most!

two-girls-whispering-croppedWhile we’ve been told that for a women, sex is low on the priority list, it’s actually a very powerful experience for most women. Speaking in generalities, sex for men is a largely physical experience, while for women it’s much more: the most powerful way she can connect both physically and emotionally. It’s an opportunity for submission, total femininity and of course, sexual pleasure and orgasm. The right lover allows a woman to submit while feeling secure, let go of inhibitions, embrace her femininity and similarly celebrate his masculinity.

Any guy who can fulfill this role and give a woman wild, passionate, animal sex – has got her wrapped around his finger. The power of sexual fulfillment is so strong that even if you treat a woman badly – she’ll keep coming back for the sexual experience. We all have seen women behave like puppy dogs around the most abusive, disrespectful men. Ever wonder why?

968full-helen-ddowenReversely, without the earth-shaking sexual experience that a women craves on an instinctual level, a woman will feel un-satisfied, distant and cheated. This explains why even the kindest, sweetest boyfriend will end up being dumped or denied sex completely.

The best thing you can do right now to upgrade your sex game is to enhance the tool you’re working with. Your male organ needs to be able to give a woman the multiple, explosive orgasms that will keep her coming back. If you have trouble getting or keeping an erection, you’re playing a losing game.

In this article I want to share with you 5 ways to prevent premature ejaculation and last longer in bed.

If you’ve ever been disillusioned into thinking that there’s nothing you can do to prevent premature ejaculation, then hopefully this article will change your mind.

The truth is that there are many ways to prevent premature ejaculation, and being able to last longer in bed is something that lies within your control!

So let me go ahead and share with you 5 powerful strategies for preventing premature ejaculation and lasting longer in bed:

urlTake Some Deep Breaths

A lot of men when it comes to sex can get very nervous and fearful of premature ejaculation. As a result, they get all tense, sweaty and start taking lots of short, sharp and shallow breaths.

Unfortunately, this is a great recipe for premature ejaculation. So next time you find your nerves kicking in, take 10 slow deep breaths and just watch how you suddenly become a lot more relaxed and last longer too.

tip2Become James Bond

Another way to get rid of your nerves and prevent premature ejaculation is to change your thoughts. If you’re constantly worrying about how bad it’s going to be if you orgasm too soon then you’re bound to make yourself nervous and actually end up making it happen.

On the other hand, if you spend your time thinking like James Bond would think, i.e. seeing yourself in control, just enjoying the moment and not stressing about anything, then you’ll have no nerves to encourage premature ejaculation.

tip3Urinate Before Sex

This is a dead simple way to prevent premature ejaculation, but it’s one that men forget about time and time again. Don’t be like most other men.

Remember to go to the bathroom before having sex. By doing this you take the pressure off your genitals and lasting longer will come naturally.

tip4.ashxStroke The Roof Of Your Mouth With Your Tongue

OK, I know what you’re thinking. This one is a bit “out there”, but at the end of the day this technique works.

By stroking the roof of your mouth you’ll find that by putting all your attention into doing this weird thing you distract yourself from all the pleasure in your genitals, this distraction is a great way of getting your control back in the bedroom and lasting longer.

tip5.ashxGo For A Second Round

If all else fails, just go for a second round. Women care a lot less than you probably think about premature ejaculation. And this is especially true if you take the time to come back for a second round when you can really pleasure her.

So if you ejaculate early don’t worry about it too much. You can always just learn from your mistakes and go for a second round… I’m sure she’ll thank you for it. So there are 5 ways to prevent premature ejaculation, use them wisely.

These 5 Tips are just a start… I’ve written dozens of tips like these, check out my cool video, which I have just posted online. It contains loads of tips and moves on how to last longer in bed.

Using these tricks and hacks, you’ll be lasting 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes – or even longer (depending on how much you practice) – leaving your partner begging for more!

You will find out how to finally end your premature ejaculation fears once and for all.

So if you’ve ever felt embarrassed about ejaculating too quickly, or not being able to last as long as your partner…

Or if you suffer from ejaculating even BEFORE penetration, you need to know that ignoring the problem only makes it worse.

This is a way to make sex last for as long as YOU want it to!

Anyone can master this, and once you do, you will be able to control your orgasms, and ejaculate when… and ONLY when YOU want to.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-60009964810806743932015-10-02T07:32:00.001-07:002015-10-02T07:32:02.858-07:00 A Must-Read List of Facts Vs Myths about … Sex

The Internet was awash yesterday, October 1, following the release of the long awaited ministerial list.

According to reports, the list submitted to the National Assembly comprises 21 would-be ministers which include the likes of former governors: Dr Chris Ngige (Anambra), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Babatunde Fashola amongst many others.

However, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to the widely circulated ministerial list.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, Lai Mohammed advised Nigerians not to accept in its entirety the list being circulated around, Vanguard reports.

The APC spokesman urged Nigerians to be patient for the official announcement of the names of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees by the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, October 6, when it resumes for plenary

APC spokesman said: “Unfortunately, the Senate is yet to read the list, so whatever you read anywhere is mere speculation. Not until the Senate President reads out the list on Tuesday, it will be too premature for anybody to start making a comment on who and who is on the list.

“But from what I take from what the President said this morning (Thursday), people think there has been undue delay but he explained that the delay was due to the fact that there were no proper handover notes and that the transition committee was not helped much because the transition committee did not receive the handover notes until about four days to the handover.”

Mohammed also reacted to President Buhari’s declaration to be in charge of Ministry of Petroleum.

According to him, Buhari is in the best position to oversee the very important ministry.

He said: “I think not only all in the APC will be comfortable with that but I think Nigerians should be comfortable with it because he has been minister for petroleum resources before. So, he is not a rookie in the business. I think if the oil today accounts for almost 70% of all our revenue, it is only proper that somebody who is knowledgeable, who has the experience and who is the Commander-in- chief should take that position.”

Other names listed for ministerial appointment include: Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma (Akwa Ibom), former CPC legal adviser, Malami Abubakar, former CPC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Adebayo Shittu amongst many others.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sanni has claimed that no one knows the names of the nominees in the envelop, including senate president, Bukola Saraki.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-31502337930464596682015-10-02T00:46:00.005-07:002015-10-02T00:46:56.271-07:00In Oyo, herdsmen believe their animals are utmost

As a result of the cord of unity that binds all diverse ethnic groups together as an indivisible entity, it is not out of place for anybody from the 44 ethnic groups that make up Nigeria to live anywhere in the country.

But, what happens if visitors now pose a serious threat to security of lives and property of their hosts?

That aptly paints the picture of the frosty relationship between residents of Oyo State especially people from Oke Ogun area and Fulani herdsmen. The constant clashes between the two groups.

The people of Oke Ogun are not complaining about co-habiting with the Fulani herdsmen, but their grudge against them stems from constant and unabated destruction of their farmlands by the cattle of these nomads.

The cold war between the two groups dates back to many years ago. According to a resident of the area, about 20 or 30 people have lost their lives since the problem started. The herdsmen are scattered all over towns and cities like Irawo, Agbonle in Saki East Local Government, Igboho, Igbeti, Iganna, Otu, Eruwa and Igboora. In all these areas, they always have serious problems with them.

He said, “The Fulani herdsmen believe they can kill human beings to protect lives of their animals. Their population is increasing seriously and this is due to some factors. One is that our area is savannah area. They know that their cattle grow bigger here than elsewhere because they have enough grass to eat. Two, we have large expanse of land that is large enough for them. Another factor is the issue of Boko Haram. There was a time, they even pleaded with our traditional rulers here to allow their people to come down and live here because of the problem of Boko Haram in the North. On market days, if you see them, they almost outnumber the indigenes. Most of these people come from Niger Republic because of its proximity to Saki.”

A lawyer in the area, Mr. Adeola Fehintola told Vanguard that the issue is a very herculean task for people in the area adding that they don’t sleep with their eyes closed any more.

According to him, indigenes especially farmers in Oke Ogun always have their hectares of farmlands destroyed by the voracious cattle that the Fulani men graze. When asked if there had been any improvement on the incident, he said, “it is even getting worse by the day and the recent kidnap of the former Secretary to the Federal Government and former Minister of Finance, Chief Olu Falae has further heightened the fears of our people. They say if ‘fire can consume a tortoise with iron coat, what will it not do to the flesh of a frog’ meaning if somebody like Chief Falae could be kidnapped, people of low estate are not safe”.

“Recently, there was a farmer whose hectares of farmland where he planted maize were completely destroyed. When I asked him to let us take up the matter, he simply said I should not bother just because he was afraid they(Fulani) could kill him. He is just one of the farmers that suffer in silence here in Oke Ogun”.

He said what baffles him was a response of one of the cattle rearers who said their animals too have a fundamental right to eat and what will they feed on if not grass?

He further explained that what the herdsmen do now is to pay for damages whenever their animals encroach upon any farmland but the compensation is never commensurate with the crops they destroy.

“For instance, if their cows destroyed crops worth N100,000 they offer you between N40, 000 and N60,000. Who will pay for the rest. That is the issue here. There have been several attacks on farmers and most of the physical attacks are unreported”.

Apart from destroying farmlands, most of these herdsmen are dare-devil robbers who don’t have any respect for sanctity of human life. In the past, the state police command had paraded them as robbery suspects and most the attacks would claim casualty.

Recently, the Chairman, Arewa Chiefs in southern Nigeria and the Seriki Hausa in Shasha, Oyo State, Alhaji Haruna Katsina advised that both groups should value peaceful co-existence.

The Hausa leader urged the Fulani herdsmen to maintain peace, respect their neighbors, and respect law and government to engender peace in the state.

Katsina said observing the laws of the land and respect for the host community will prevent conflict from escalating to violence saying the region will not allow the terrible condition being witnessed in the north to rear its head in southern Nigeria.

Alhaji Katsina stated this while meeting with the leaders of the Fulani in the 17 southern states of the country held at his palace in Ibadan.

The Seriki in Shasha is the Chairman of the Arewa Chiefs across the 17 southern states of the country. He called on the Fulani/ Bororo herdsmen to maintain peace, obey the government and hold peaceful meetings occasionally and settle their differences with farmers in the state.

Early this month, the state House of Assembly constituted a committee that is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring peaceful existence between the herdsmen and their host. The committee is headed by the majority leader of the legislative arm, Mr. Kehinde Subair.

The Speaker, Michael Adeyemo called on all feuding parties and other stakeholders to appear before the House so as to find lasting solutions to the recurring problem.

Among those the House summoned are the Permanent Secretary and Director, Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Commissioner of Police, the Chairman and Secretary, Fulani/Bororo Cattle Breeders Association. Others are the head, Oyo State Farmers Association and the head, Oke-Ogun Farmers Association.

Mr. Gabriel Kehinde, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, said the only antidote to the problem was the creation of grazing reserve for the nomads.

Also, Mr. Solomon Odedeji, the Chairman, All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria(AFAN), Oyo State Chapter also urged the legislative arm to warn traditional heads, who allegedly connived with the herdsmen after collecting money from them.

In his own contribution, Alhaji Yakubu Bello, the Chairman, Miyetta Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria(MACBAN), Oyo State Chapter said complained that some farmers in the state often spray their farmlands and crops with poisonous substances which often results to the death of many of their livestock, adding that the grazing reserve at Ayete and Igangan areas of the state were not accessible because the community had ploughed the land and chased them away.

Mr. Joshua Oyebamiji who represents Akinyele 1, called on all stakeholders to consult agriculturists on how best to provide alternative means of feeding the cattle.

The Speaker then called on traditional chiefs and the security agencies to be more vigilant and discharge their duties as expected of them.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-38427902353015302332015-10-02T00:45:00.001-07:002015-10-02T00:45:01.939-07:00Lagos shuts Chinese firm over worker’s death

Lagos—Lagos State Government has shut Hongxing Steel Company Limited, a Chinese company based in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government for safety violations.
The state government issued the stop-work order following the death of a casual worker, Mr. Emeka Umoh. He sustained severe burns after liquefied iron spilled on him on September 23, 2015.

Vanguard learnt that he died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where he was rushed to for treatment by the management.
Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, LSSC, Mr. Fouad Oki, in a statement after visiting the company, said that the company failed to adhere to the state safety standards.

Oki lamented the working condition in the company, saying it was deplorable.

He noted that a safety audit of the company that was earlier conducted by the LSSC team showed that very little safety measure was put in place by the management.
Oki said: “We have no option than to give the closure directive because the working condition in the company is harsh and totally unacceptable. It was unacceptable to Lagos as a work-place.”

Mr. Uche Eke, the Public Relations Manager of the company, while reacting to the closure, said it would serve as a notice to the management to improve on its work-place safety measures, adding, “when it is improved, it will help to avoid future hazards.’Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-1689248171560178562015-10-02T00:42:00.002-07:002015-10-02T00:42:52.984-07:00Kidnapped Ondo cleric freed after 11 days

Akure—AFTER 11 days in kidnappers den, a 70-year-old cleric at Ikare-Akoko area of Ondo State, Japhet Obafemi, has regained his freedom.

Pastor Obafemi of the Apostolic Faith, Ilepa in Ikare-Akoko, was ambushed by some suspected Fulani herdsmen who abducted him along Augu/Akunmu Expressway, while coming back from a church engagement in Kogi State.

His son was said to be driving his SUV when his abductors, numbering about 13, reportedly ambushed him.

The kidnappers later called the wife, identified as Olu, that her husband was with them and that the family and the church should pay N16 million ransom for his freedom.

Vanguard gathered that the family and the church were able to raise N300,000 but the kidnappers insisted they won’t go below N3 million.

They reportedly told the wife to sell his property and that of the church to raise money to pay the ransom.

Vanguard, however, could not ascertain if the kidnappers ended up collecting the N300,000 or that the family and the church paid more.

But it was reliably gathered that the family parted with some “good money” before the pastor was freed.

A police source said the pastor was seen at Ise-Akoko, a few kilometres from where he was kidnapped.

Narrating his ordeal, Pastor Obafemi who reportedly sustained injury on his head, said he trekked over six kilometres to Ise-Akoko from the bush where he was released.

His family members prevented him from going into details of how he was kidnapped and where he was taken to by his abductors.

They stated that his health was of more importance to them now than granting press interview.

Vanguard gathered that the family are planning to take him to a private hospital in Lagos for a thorough medical examination.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, had last week declared three days fasting and prayer for the release of the abducted pastor.

Speaking with newsmen, the chairman, Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Azeez Al-Amam, expressed appreciation to journalists, security agencies and the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, for their

efforts in ensuring the release of the cleric.

Religious leaders and his church members have continued to flock his residence, singing and giving praises to God for his release.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-750508814122449479.post-14249733303347553542015-10-02T00:41:00.002-07:002015-10-02T00:41:24.705-07:00Ambode urges Nigerians to return nation’s glorious past

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, yesterday, urged Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the service of the country as a way of returning the glorious past of the nation.

Ambode, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, made the call at the Independence Day parade to mark Nigeria’s 55th anniversary.

He said there was need to rekindle the flame that ignited the determination of the founding fathers to fight for and obtain independence.

“On this day, Nigeria defined her sovereignty as a people and since then had collectively built a strong nation, united and indivisible in spite of tough challenges.

“Together, we shall continue to reflect on the labours of our founding fathers and heroes of democracy, so that their labour will not be in vain,” he said.

Ambode also urged residents to key into the aspirations of the state government to move the state to the next level of development and take centre stage in global reckoning.

“My message to Lagosians as we celebrate today is to rededicate ourselves to the common goal of taking the state to greater heights.

“This administration will ensure that it delivers on its mandate to make life more comfortable for the people,” he said.

The Nigerian Police, paramilitary organizations and students took part in the parade.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13453417529361933730noreply@blogger.com0
