Rising Stars players promoted to Sunshine

The Ondo State Football Agency has promoted four more players from the academy team, Rising Stars, to the state’s senior team Sunshine Stars.

The agency explained that the move was to realise the objectives of Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s in the area of discovering and developing footballers at the grassroots.

It was also in response to Sunshine Stars’ request for quality players as the mid-season transfer window opens.

At the beginning of the current Nigeria Professional Football League season, Kehinde Adedipe and Emmanuel James were promoted from the academy team to the Premier League team. The two players have become regular features of Sunshine Stars since the promotion.

Adedipe was on target on his full debut as he scored the opening goal for Sunshine Stars in their 3-1 win over Akwa United in a recent game in Akure.

The new players to join the NPFL outfit are goalkeeper Azeez Ikhana, Gbaluwe Damilola, Oluwole Tolulope and Ajibade Abiola. The players have since been registered with the League Management Company.

ODSFA Chairman, Akin Akinbobola, said, “We are not surprised with the quality of players that are coming out of Rising Stars Academy; this is because the state governor has committed a lot of resources into the process of discovering and nurturing of talented footballers from the grassroots in the state.”
