UCH offers to treat Baba Sala free

The management of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, said on Thursday that the medical bill of the ailing comedian, Moses Adejumo, also known as Baba Sala, would be borne by the hospital.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the UCH, Deji Bobade, on Thursday.

Bobade said that the decision to foot Baba Sala’s medical bill was taken when the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Temitope Alonge, visited the comedian on his sick bed on Thursday.

He said, “The CMD visited the comedian today (Thursday) and revealed that all the bills incurred on his treatment will be borne by the hospital. He is a national hero who should enjoy, especially now in his old age.”

The octogenarian was rushed to the hospital on Monday from Ilesa after he complained of discomfort associated with old age-related ailment.

A son of the comedian, Emmanuel, told our correspondent on Thursday that his father was being observed by a medical team, adding that he could be discharged this weekend.

He said Baba Sala ý was responding well to treatment.

“My father is okay now, but the hospital wants him to go through some medical tests to ascertain his medical status before discharging him. He is in a special ward to reduce influx of visitors. Hopefully, he will be at home by this weekend,” he said.
