PSC reinstates 15 police officers, dismisses 2

ABUJA—The Police Service Commission, PSC, has reinstated 15 police officers, while another nine were recalled and retired after the board of the commission considered petitions and appeals from 65 officers, who felt their rights were trampled upon.

Forty-one of the petitions were, however, rejected by the commission for lack of merit.

Regarding disciplinary cases, PSC considered 37 pending cases and approved the dismissal of two senior police officers, retired two others compulsorily and reduced the ranks of another three.

The commission also approved letters of severe reprimand for 11 senior officers, letters of reprimand for eight, letters of warning for three and letters of advice for four, while also exonerating four police officers.

A statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Information and Public Relations, PSC, said: “These decisions were part of the highlights of the 13th plenary meeting of the commission held in Abuja and presided over by its Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Police.

“The commission’s decisions have since been communicated to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, for implementation.”
