UMUAHIA—In celebration of Worlds Rabies Day, an Umuahia-based security expert, Dr. Cyra Obi has warned of the dangers of the virus, saying that quite a number of people had died from the deadly virus over the years.

According to Obi, it was very important to take seriously, the sensitization on the need for dog owners to that their dogs are well taken care of, as well as ensure that they are properly vaccinated.

Obi who runs Trustlink Guards and Dogs Institute, in Umuahia, explained that as part of the programmes mapped out to mark this year’s World Rabies Day, his firm would vaccinate about one thousand dogs in the state on complimentary basis.

“Today the experts are here, the Veterinary Doctors are here to carry out the vaccination on complimentary basis. We shall also give out certificates and pet books on complimentary basis today.

“Thereafter, dog owners will start vaccinating their dogs because there abound a lot of dangers associated with not vaccinating your dogs”, Obi said while addressing the occasion.

He also said that his firm was liaising with government authorities to scout for dogs not vaccinated against the deadly rabies virus, saying anyone found to have run fowl would be arrested “because of the dangers associated with the rabies virus”.
